My Why

Lately, as I've shared Where Healing Meets Serenity with others, one of the questions I hear most often is, "What's your vision?" or "What's your end goal?"

The truth is... I don't really have one.

That may sound strange. Nearly everything in my life has always worked toward something - a degree, a certification, a career, a business, a milestone. There was always another box to check, another finish line to cross.

But grief isn't like that.

There isn't a point where you wake up one day and think, I've finished grieving.

Instead, grief changes. It grows with us. It softens in some places, surprises us in others, and quietly becomes part of who we are.

I realized I didn't want this website to have an end goal either.

I don't want it to become something that's "finished." I want it to continue growing, just as healing does. I hope it becomes a place where new stories are shared, new resources are discovered, and new ideas are added as we learn from one another.

More than anything, I hope it helps people feel a little less alone.

Not everyone is ready to join a support group. Not everyone wants to talk about their grief. Sometimes we simply want to know that someone else has felt what we're feeling.

That the intrusive thoughts aren't just ours.

That someone else has dreaded the anniversaries.

That someone else has wondered if they're grieving "the right way."

That someone else has laughed through tears, searched for signs, struggled to eat, found comfort in a song, or sat quietly by the ocean just trying to feel close to the person they miss.

Those moments remind us that we're not broken.

We're human.

If someone visits this website and leaves thinking,

"I've felt that too."

"I'm not the only one."

"Maybe there's hope for me, too."

...then it has already become everything I hoped it would be.

Because this was never about creating a product.

It was always about creating a place.

A soft place to land.
