Healing doesn't always have to be about doing more.
Sometimes healing looks like curling up on the couch, finding a story that feels comforting, and letting yourself rest for a while. Other times, it's seeing a character experience grief, loss, or change in a way that makes you think, "Yes. That's exactly what it feels like."
These are shows that have made me laugh, cry, think, escape, or simply feel a little less alone. Some offer comfort, while others portray grief and healing in ways that helped me feel understood.
Grey's Anatomy
Season 3 Episode 12
In this episode we see George battle with his father in his final moments. One scene that resonated the most with me was between him and Christina when George says "I don't how to exist in a world where my dad doesn't." It's a heartwarming, relatable moment of friends sitting in the grief together.

Shrinking
This is such a great show to depict the everyday life while processing grief - family, friends, work, moving forward.
Jimmy lost. his wife and navigates being a therapist himself, his relationship with his daughter, coworkers/friends, etc. You also view grief through the lens of a daughter losing a mother and the village it takes to help you through the process.

One Tree Hill
Season 7 Episodes 18, 20, 21, 22.. etc.
This is one of the first shows that portrayed grief in a way that truly spoke to me. One Tree Hill has always held a special place in my heart, but now even more so.
Episode 18 leads up to one of the main characters, Haley, losing her mother and some of their final moments.Â
In episodes 20, 21, Â and 22 we see Haley carry the heaviness and darkness that often comes with grief. I've found this is the part that's least talked about - and I really love that this show didn't shy away from the hard conversations.
